BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.

Today has been super pleasant.
...For the most part, at least.

I spent lots of time outside enjoying the gorgeous, sunny weather,
I got some good quality snuggling with my Ollie cat,
and I was able to channel my creative energy into making jewelry.

I tell ya, it sure has been nice having some time to finally kick back and relax after being bombarded with an entire weekend's worth of studying.  Talk about a not-so-fun way to spend a weekend.

Now, as I sit and blog to you, things aren't as pleasant as they were earlier in the day.

I am getting quite an earful of Justin Timberlake's Rock your Body. Sure, I enjoy jammin' out to my boy JT, but preferably not on a Monday night.   Sorry, JT---it's a Monday night, and you're a Saturday night kinda guy.  On a Monday, I'm into much more mellow music such as Adele or Deathcab.

My neighbor, who lives one floor directly above me, obviously feels differently about JT on a Monday.  He happens to be having one serious jam sesh to some JT, and honestly, it's so loud that I can't hear myself think.  Writing this post is quite the challenge with the bass BOOM, BOOM, BOOM-ing through the ceiling.

Sarah already grabbed the broom and tried banging it on the ceiling.

And, nothing happened.
Good try anyways, roomie.

On to better things...

Of course my Ollie boy and Sarah's Cricket have to be close by while I'm stringin' beads.

Here are some of my new pieces for my Etsy shop that I made today!
I have been pretty fall-spirited lately, so I figured I'd create some wonderfall pieces.

Here are a couple:

I am beyond thrilled to share
that I have a couple new followers as of this past week!
Welcome!
I am looking forward to featuring everyone's creations,
so be on the lookout for some good finds!

Buttercup Ring

ModernButtercup created this vintage beauty that fits ring sizes 6-7.
Girl, I'm loving this floral detail.  So shabby chic and classy!
And it's only $6!
Talk about a steal, y'all.

Be sure to check out her Etsy shop, Modern Buttercup, HERE!

I'm happy to say that JT isn't blaring through my ceiling any longer.
I can finally think again.
This is good.

XOXO.

Pumpkins, Kitties, and Sissies

Pumpkins, Kitties, and Sissies

These three wonderful things summed up my past few days, and I loved it.

Don't you think that receiving a care package is quite possibly the best thing ever?  Seriously.  It makes my day when I roll up to my mailbox and a package is waiting there for no other than me!

So, this week, my sweet cousins sent me a care package.  I grabbed that baby and bolted up the stairs of my apartment, slammed open the door, ran to the kitchen to find some scissors...and couldn't freakin' find them.  Buzzkill.

I figured I would just use a knife at this point.  There was no time to find scissors when I had a care package to open!  The anticipation was killing me.  I opened the silverware  drawer and all the knives were gone.  They were being washed in the dishwasher.  Shoot---just my luck.

So, I scurried around the apartment, looking for any sort of sharp object that would tear this tape that was carefully and tightly secured around the entire package.  (Thanks Aunt Bonnie).

For fifteen long minutes, I was on a hunt for something that would do the job.  After crawling under beds, making a mess of my desk, and searching my car; I went ahead and grabbed a knife out of the dishwasher.

Note to self:  Buy a pair of scissors.

... or five.

In the package, there were loads of goodies.
Chocolate, fruit, tissues, ramen, a Starbucks gift card,
chapstick, and a baby pumpkin.

And, let me tell you...
that baby pumpkin was a HIT.

As you can see, the kitties loved all over that pumpkin.
While my sissy and I loved all over them.
Gotta love pumpkins, kitties, and sisterly time.

XOXO.

Sickling

I am sick, and IT FREAKIN' SUCKS.

Okay, sorry.  That was really a rough way to start off today's post.  Let me try this again...

I am sick, and I am hanging in there.

There we go.  Much better.  Wait, that isn't even the slightest bit true.  I'm miserable, and I'm hardly "hanging in there".  I've been in a ticked-off-at-the-world sort of mood today.  Don't lie---you have been there, too.  Everyone has those days where you wish you could rewind the day and start all over again---this time, hopefully on the right foot.
Yes, I'm an optimist and always look at the best in any given situation, but lets face reality for a second.  We aren't perfect.  Sometimes we have our "off", far-from-perfect-sorta days.  And today totally was mine.  And, guess what?  That's okay.

It all started this morning.  I was awakened by Cricket, my roommate's kitten.  He's a cutie---don't get me wrong, but he's an absolute demon-of-a-cat.  That was so not a cool way to be woken up.  Not only was I beyond ticked that that demon cat woke me up from my beauty sleep, but I swallowed and felt a painful sensation in the back of my throat.  What the heck.
This sick crap always happens every year when the weather starts getting all wacked out.  I want to shake Mother Nature and say, "Listen, crazy woman.  Pick summer or fall.  You can't have them both!"  One day it's in the 80s, then the next day it is in the 60s.  I can't do it!  My sinuses cannot take it anymore.

Even though it felt like my head was the size of a planet, I still managed to make my way to Psychology.  Please be proud of me.  By this time, the meds were starting to kick in, so the pain was not as severe (Thank God!).
So, what could have been the worst possible thing to have happened after my Psychology class?

Thunderstorm.

Yes, friends.  I walked out into the hallway and students were blocking the doorways.  At first, I thought something cool was going on because everyone was congregating around.  I was hoping Lil' Wayne was on campus or somethin'.   Nah, just torrential downpoor.

NBD.

Actually, it was a BIG deal. I looked down at my white t-shirt and navy blue Soffee shorts.  In my mind I said, "Nope.  It ain't gonna happen.  Not today."
There was no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that I was going to leave that building until the rain stopped fallin'.

White T-shirts + Rain = Death

I was not trying to take part in a wet t-shirt contest.  So, there I was inside...waiting...waiting in the hallway.  Eyes glued to the window.  I kept thinking, "God, when oh when is this rain going to stop?"  Well, it didn't any time soon---that's for sure.  In fact, twenty minutes had gone by and the rain hadn't let up, even just a tad.  I happen to have a life, so I glanced at the clock and realized that I couldn't stand here and wait any longer.  The ran was not going to hold me back any longer.
I walked out of the building, letting the rain pour on me and my white t-shirt.  I crossed my arms over my chest, hoping it would keep the passerbys from getting a peep show of my nunga nungas.

Perhaps, a combination of these things could be the reason why my day was not so pleasant.  It just started off on the wrong foot, and by golly, don't you just hate that?

It's like nothing works the way you want it.
For now, I'm gonna try and be my optimistic self and hope for a much, much better day tomorrow.

XOXO.

Meow, meow.

I've never been without cats.

When I was born, I was brought into a home with three cats.  Who knows what the heck my parents were thinking.

3 cats + 1 baby= Insanity.

Ever since, I have never been cat-less.

As I matured, and my cats grew old and passed away from old age; my mother, father, sister and I would eventually decide to head to a local breeder in order to try to fill the empty space in our family.  It was hard filling the precious place of a passed away cat.  But if we did end up feeling a special connection with a particular kitten, we would bring the little kitty home.

When I left home to start my freshman year of college at Ole Miss, I hated when I had to say goodbye to my animals (and my mom and sister, of course).  I knew I would greatly miss my fuzzy family members.

Now, in my fourth year of college, I decided to move into an apartment.  With that being said, I knew, before even stepping foot into my brand-spankin'-new apartment, that I had to live in an apartment that allowed cats. Sure enough, when the day came to look for an apartment, I stumbled upon one that I head-over-heels fell in love with.  And why yes, it was cat-friendly.

In a short time, I signed the lease and started moving in my stuff.
During the move-in period, I practically lived on Petfinder.  I decided, after a few of my very good friends adopted cats at the local pet shelter, that I wanted to do the same.  I felt like it was the right thing to do.

Allow me to introduce you to this sweet 2-year-old Persian.  This is Ollie.  Yep, he's all mine.  I discovered this lil' guy on Petfinder.  He was located at a nearby animal shelter. Before being placed with his foster mom, Ollie was raised in a cattery and was not a well-socialized cat.  His owner had approximately 25 cats, and she did not expose them to many humans.  After his owner became ill, Henrico Animal League brought in many of her cats.  Linda, his foster mother who took him, got him very comfortable around humans.  Linda might be the sweetest lady I have met in my entire life.  And, she is definitely a miracle-worker because he is well-socialized now.  And photogenic.

How can you not love him?  He's the sweetest, most affectionate guy ever.  I adore him.

Since Ollie was so used to having other cats around when he lived in the cattery, it was very obvious from the get-go that he was lonely and needed a buddy.

My awesome roommate decided to call up Linda to see if she had any kittens available.  Sure enough, Linda hooked my roommate up.  Sweet Linda came to our apartment (she insisted on driving a total of 45 minutes in order to bring the kitten instead of us meeting her.  She is just that sweet.).  May I add that Linda drove through Hurricane Irene to bring the kitten to us?  Yes, she may be sweet, but it's true---they don't call 'em crazy cat ladies for nothin'!

 Meet Cricket.  AKA Ollie's BFF.

My cat and my roommate's cat are just the sweetest things.  We could not be happier.

Have you ever rescued an animal?
XOXO.
